How Our Iron Infusion Program Works at INTRA|V
Getting started is simple. Our process ensures you receive the right treatment based on your individual needs.
Step 1: Complete Your Lab Work
Before receiving an iron infusion, we need to review your blood work.
If you already have lab results from the last 30 days, you can email them during registration.
If you don't have recent labs, you have two options:
Schedule a blood draw at one of our clinics, or
Have your primary care provider order the labs.
Required Labs:
Complete Blood Count (CBC)
Iron Panel
Step 2: Phone Consultation with Our Nurse Practitioner
Once we receive your lab results, you'll have a brief phone consultation with one of our licensed nurse practitioners.
During your consultation, we will:
Review your lab results
Determine if you are a candidate for iron infusion therapy
Discuss your symptoms and medical history
Create a personalized treatment plan, including how much iron you need and whether you'll require one or multiple infusions
Step 3: Receive Your Iron Infusion
After your treatment plan is approved, you'll schedule your infusion at one of our convenient clinic locations.
During your appointment:
A registered nurse will administer your iron infusion in a comfortable, relaxing environment.
Most infusions take approximately 30–60 minutes, depending on the type of iron prescribed.
Once complete, you'll be free to resume your normal daily activities.
Follow-Up
Depending on your iron levels and treatment plan, your provider may recommend follow-up lab work to monitor your progress and ensure your iron stores have been restored.
